Along the way, you will see the historic Atwood Stadium and Carriage Town neighborhood, the University of Michigan-Flint campus, Flint’s Veterans Park, the Buick industrial corridor, and Stepping Stone Falls. It is part of the Michigan Iron Belle Trail. To reach the Flint River Trail near the cemetery, park at the gravel lot off of Sunset Drive at the northwest corner of Glenwood, just east of Bradley Street.

The Genesee Valley Trail

The Genesee Valley Trail is a rails-to-trails path from downtown Flint to the Genesee Valley Mall area to the west, approximately 4.5 miles total. The trail follows the route of the former Grand Trunk Western Railroad to the old factory sites along the river that have been converted into a natural area called Chevy Commons, which also was the site of the famous Flint Sit-Down Strike in 1936-1937. The Genesee Valley Trail goes through the southeastern edge of Glenwood. To reach the trail from the cemetery, use the eastern entrance and consider parking behind the mausoleum and walking a short distance to the trail crossing at West Court Street.
